Pickleball Events Group is looking to create a team based tournament that allows different metro areas to compete against each other while embracing the grass roots social aspect of the sport.
Metro Mayhem is not a DUPR or UTPR based tournament. However, we will use UTPR, DUPR, PickleballTournaments.com, and PickleballBrackets.com to research and validate player ratings to ensure fair and competitive balance for the players.
A Metro Team roster will consist of 3 Men and 3 Women at a minimum. One male and one female substitute is allowed per Metro Team.
A Metro Team will play every other Metro Team in their division. Each round will consist of a Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles game.
The top four teams from Round Robin or top two teams from each pool will compete in a single elimination playoff. Cash payouts will be award to the first and second place teams.
This is NOT a DUPR event or a USAP sanctioned tournament. However, PEG will use DUPR, UTPR, PickleballTournaments.com, and PickleballBrackets.com to research and validate player ratings. As a general rule,
Division 1 is for 4.0 and 4.5 players. A player that competes and/or medals in multiple 5.0 brackets will not be allowed to compete in Division 1.
Division 2 is for 3.0 and 3.5 players. A player that competes and/or medals in multiple 4.0 or 4.5 brackets will not be allowed to compete in Division 2.
Division 3 is for 2.0 and 2.5 players. A player that medals in multiple 3.0 or 3.5 brackets will not be allowed to compete in Division 3. The 3.0 bracket is generally the lowest skill level bracket available for most tournaments so the “competes in” is not applicable.
A player found to be “sandbagging” may result in disqualification and forfeiture by the Metro Team.
A Metro Team roster will consist of 3 Men and 3 Women at a minimum. One male and one female substitute is allowed per Metro Team. The Metro Team Captain can substitute players at any time before a round begins. Each round must have a Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles team. A player cannot be substituted once a game begins.
